AU: Trinity Universe/FreakAngels crossover: First date

OOC: Takes place not too terribly long after this thread.

After certain events at the Chicago harbor there had been considerable amusement within the Æon Society over the pairing up of Annabelle Newfield and Connor. (Whitley Styles had won the betting pool, despite Jake's claim that he cheated.)

As for the reactions of the other FreakAngels to the news, well, who knows?

There was a furious spate of trouble starting the very next day, of course. All of the Society's founders have been run ragged for the last few weeks. For the moment though, things are quiet. (Or at least, if things ARE going crazy somewhere, someone else is handling the problem.)

Annabelle and Jake got back in town at some ungodly hour this morning, whereupon she fell asleep on one of the couches near the fireplace. (Jake is probably off somewhere regaling a pretty woman or two with tales of said adventure, because that's what he does.)

"Really?" she asks, surprised. "That could be dangerous."

She does not want to think of him drowning. :-(

"Would you like to learn?"

"I think I should." At least to not embarrass his girlfriend at the beach.

"Oh, good," Annabelle says with a bright smile. "How does tomorrow morning sound? We've got an indoor pool that should be warm enough."

"Sounds good." And it makes him blush in double embarrassment.

Annabelle in a swimsuit: very good.

Himself in a swimsuit? Not so good...

That would depend on your point of view. At least swimsuits of this day and age cover a lot more, if a body's worried about their appearance?

Annabelle smiles softly at the blush and kisses him again. At this rate, it's going to be late by the time they head off to get some sleep.

Freakangels need sleep once a week. Connor will worry about that when Annabelle shows signs of being tired.

Still, she does start to tire eventually. SOME people need to sleep more than once a week, and Annabelle is unfortunately one of them.

Connor will escort Annabelle to her room, and see that she's safe and sound.

He will not offer to tuck her in bed, even if tempted, and bid her goodnight. Maybe with one last peck for good measure.

Parting is hard, even though she knows she's going to see him in the morning.

The sun rises, as it always has thus far. The pool area is mostly empty at this hour, thankfully.

Men's swimwear in the 20s looks, well, something like this.

Connor was up early, procuring a swimsuit.

He even managed to find one his size, but ye gods... those shirt things were a bit too much. Nevermind his scrawny torso, Connor is wearing only the trunks, positioning himself a half decade in the future of beach fashion.

Annabelle is dressed something like this. The suit is, alas, designed to flatter the more androgynous and less athletic body shape in fashion for women in the 20's.

Even so, she cuts an impressive figure. (As evidenced by one of the other swimmers nearly walking into a wall while watching her walk away.)

She blinks a bit at seeing Connor shirtless and blushes faintly. He's no Adonis, but that doesn't mean she's not admiring the view.

"Good morning," she says with a bright smile, kissing him briefly. (They ARE in public, after all.)

He kisses back, and looks her over. "A lot more cloth than... well, back then?"

Not back home. The 'future' is not his home anymore.

"I would guess so, from what you've told me," she says with a chuckle.

She's just a little nervous as he looks her over, wondering what he's thinking,

Connor? is thinking how lucky he is that the swimsuit covers Annabelle that much: otherwise, he would be pretty much brain-fried.

No, do NOT think of her in a skimpy bikini, young man. That's very un-gentlemanly.

Annabelle's thoughts aren't entirely ladylike either, so.....

"I'm not sure where to start," she says with a shake of her head. "I am NOT teaching you how to swim the way I learned," she says with a frown.

Connor offers a hand. "Hm. We could start with getting into the water?" The obvious, right?

Annabelle takes the offered hand with a chuckle. "That sounds like a good place to start. I'm guessing you'd prefer NOT to be tossed into the water?"

Yes, that's what happened to Annabelle around age 6. One of the 14 year old boys with the circus was tired of her following him and his friends around and pestering them.

"I... am sure it will happen sometime." He moves to the pool with her, climbing in first. "So, let's let it happen. Later."

"You haven't REALLY gone swimming till you've had to do it fully dressed with all your gear," she jokes.

She climbs in after him, grinning. "This is going to sound like a stupid question, but do you know how to float?"

"Hm, I guess?" he never tried much...

Besides, right now he's trying to not think much of wet cloth clinging to soft skin and delicate curves...

The same curves his hands had the chance to explore partially with the heavy makeouts of the previous evening.

And he's glad to be in the water.

He's not the only one trying to avoid certain thoughts right now.

At least she's still mostly covered above the waist. Annabelle is trying to firmly squash those bits of her brain that are tempted to touch and explore his rather naked chest.

"It's a good place to start, then," she says with a chuckle. "It's easiest to float on your back..."

If he's willing, she'll help walk him through it. Although the feeling of her hand on his bare back is probably not exactly relaxing...

He trusts Annabelle, so, yes, he will float on his back. "Sure."

After he calms down by thinking about the Queen dressed like a 1920's flapper.

There are swimming lessons, and by about lunchtime she's quite confident that he's unlikely to drown anytime soon.

Her hair is coming loose from the swimming cap on her head, damp curls peeking teasingly out from underneath.

"You're a fast learner," she tells him with a grin, stretching out the kinks that swimming has put in her muscles.

Sorry, Connor. She's entirely oblivious to the potential effect of said stretching on observers.

"Thanks." Oh, he is very aware of the effect is has on him.

Connor reaches out, and gently pulls off her cap, letting Annabelle's hair fall free.
