AU OOM :Test drive 18 year old Annabelle.

The Annabelle Newfield that stumbles into Milliways is not the Annabelle the patrons are used to. This Annabelle is 18 years old and has just, barely, survived having her brain highjacked by a no good bastard of a psychic in Cuba.

Calling her psyche a mess at this point is an understatement. Metaphysically speaking, she's crisscrossed with open, bleeding wounds. (That tends to happen when you battle mind to mind with a psychic employing brute force to puppeteer your body that doesn't particularly care if you're even alive after they're finished with you.)

But this is not the main problem. The REAL problem is that Milliways does not allow two versions of the same person to exist in the Bar at the same time. Reality shuffles itself like a deck of cards and the 'new' Annabelle gets slammed with a whole different set of 28 years worth of memories as the 'old' Annabelle ceases to exist.

Memories that don't settle properly thanks to the mess her psyche is at the moment. Oh, they're probably in there to be found.....somewhere, eventually.......maybe. Damn it.

Annabelle looks around the Bar, too shocked and disoriented to even swear for the moment.

"There's twelve of us; we were born at the same time, we all with the same eyes and the same powers, but each one also has a special talent." He speaks slowly, watching her still cautious. "Mine's memories and emotions"

"That's new." Annabelle doesn't seem upset by this, just surprised. "The youngest we've ever seen was 8 years old, and most of us were grown or nearly so."

Annabelle looks sad. "I guess we're not from the same universe, that's going to make it hard to see you again, once we get out of here."

Pause. "Unless I can badger Dixon into building a dimensional portal or something."

That was most unexpected, and makes Connor stare a bit.

Or a lot.

Or some; anyway, his confusion is evident.

Annabelle is confused at his confusion. "Are you okay?" she asks, concerned.

[leadinghome]

"You're the first girl who ever mentioned wanting to see me again..." And he blushes, because that does sound... weird?

Annabelle blinks at that. "Wow, your world is messed up." Then she blushes at the realization that that wasn't the most polite thing in the world to have said.

"But, um, I'm sure it has its good points." Probably.

"It's... not messed up to everybody, all the time." That is... something? "The government just decided we are too potentially dangers to be allowed to roam free."

"They're scared of what we might do."

Annabelle scowls at that. "I'll show them potentially dangerous," she growls.

Then, she sighs. "But I don't think I'm capable of overthrowing a government by myself." Woe.

She squeezes his hand a little. "Are you terribly....attached to your homeland?" she asks, expression serious.

"...England. No, I'm not, but, I can't leave the others." The other Freaks. "They're my only family."

The fingers of Annabelle's other hand drum idly on the tabletop. "I wouldn't ask you to," she explains.

"Do you think that they'd be willing to relocate?" Annabelle is having an IDEA.

Blink.

Again.

"I... think so?" He is surprised that someone would just offer shelter like that.

Annabelle smiles softly. "Not the first time we've had to get folks out of an ugly situation, although We're on good terms with the governments back home, generally."

The fact that she hasn't mentioned who 'We' are yet has slipped her mind.

"And... who is 'we'?" It has not slipped Connor's mind.

Annabelle is blushing, again. It's a record. "Sorry, I'm used to people knowing."

Then she smiles. "'We' would be the AEon Society. We help people, especially when the situation involves folks with more than standard human abilities."

Someone else would think it's a too-convenient meeting.

Someone else would not be an empath: it's not like someone can just lie to Connor. "It... might work for us." Being helped instead of hunted.

Annabelle has enough trouble lying successfully to people who aren't empathic.

"Good," Annabelle says with a smile. "The tricky bit would be getting all of you here, or getting us a pathway to your universe."

"I guess it would be easier if we knew exactly how we ended here in the first place... and why only me, of all us back home."

"It would be a lot easier," Annabelle says with a sigh. "I don't think my winding up here had anything to do with...what happened earlier."

[leadinghome]

"And we were just running... looking for a place to hide and rest a bit." Connor shakes head. "Not sure when I slept last."

Annabelle squeezes his hand gently. "Then you should definitely rest. Going that long without any sleep can't be good for anyone."

[leadinghome]

"I... well, we all, don't need to sleep much, if we have food. Kirk is the best at it; he can go a week without sleep, then conk out for a day and be back fresh."

"Sounds more intense than what some of the folks I know can do," Annabelle replies with a smile.

"Still, if you can't remember when you slept last, it's probably been way too long. Besides, we're outside of time at the moment, might as well take advantage of the situation."

[leadinghome]

"Thanks, but I burned most of that chocolate into 'stay awake', better not waste that. Besides, its quiet here and it's good to not be worried and stuff, and..." And he shuts up, blushing a bit.

Annabelle smiles at his blush. "and you'd rather talk to me than sleep?" Annabelle guesses.

"I guess I must have made a better impression than I usually do," she adds with a small chuckle and a faint blush of her own.

Not the exact words he'd use, but... yeah, close to it. "Yeah. You do, I guess?" Sure, she is armed, but she does not feel like he should be afraid.
