Time has passed, as it tends to do. The Æon Society has recently received word of people going missing in Greenland, and not the kind of people you'd expect to go missing, either. Natives and experienced trackers and wilderness experts have simply gone missing for no readily discernible reason.

That's why Annabelle Newfield and Connor are here to investigate. Mysterious disappearances tend to be their kind of trouble, one way or the other.

A friend of Jake's has dropped them off in a remote village with his plane before haring off on another errand.

Connor chuckles a bit, he forgot his embarrassment in the happiness of seeing his love well. "How are you feeling, Annabelle?"

"Much better than I did yesterday," she says with a smile. "You seem to be doing better too..."

"Still have a bit of headache, but... okay, mostly." He will help her sit, and help bring out the food.

Annabelle is partly amused and partly confused at his waiting on her. "I'm not that injured, you know," she says with a shake of her head.

"Hell, I've been in fights with worse than this."

"And so I should not care?" He raises a brow, and the only reason why she is not poked, is because of her cracked ribs. "Eat, you need food."

"I never said you shouldn't care," Annabelle replies. "I'm just used to doing for myself, that's all."

Annabelle does eat with a will. Thankfully, opiates don't generally make her nauseous.

Well, she better get used to having a boyfriend.

One who will dote on her a lot.

If he can get used to her getting banged up and painfully put back together again, we're sure they'll work things out.

She smiles at Connor and reaches for his hand under the table. "It looks like the house is buried halfway up the door in snow," Annabelle remarks with a shake of her head.

He can get used to helping her NOT get banged up too bad, actually... "He will have to stay a while, until someone can come pick us up." Connor squeezes her hand gently.

"Looks like enforced convalescence for me, then," Annabelle says dryly. "Something the doctors back home only wish they could inflict on me."

Their hostess raises an eyebrow. "You get injured often, then?"

"Er, well, I wouldn't say often," Annabelle protests.

"Yes, not often, just about every mission..." He might seem like joking, but there is real worry there too.

"I do not!" Annabelle protests again with a roll of her eyes. It's true. She doesn't, although it may seem that way to someone who worries about her.

"I don't mean to worry you, you know," she says with a small smile.

"Well, I know. But I worry anyway." It is part of being her boyfriend, see?

"I worry about you too, you know," Annabelle admits with a faint blush. It's part of being a girlfriend too.

Connor gives her a kiss on the cheek, and smiles. "So we worry about each other. That's not a bad thing, right?"

"I don't think so," Annabelle says with a chuckle. "It's never really come up before." Annabelle's dating history pre-Connor was abysmal.

His own dating history is not much different. "Well, we can find out. Together."

"I'd like that," Annabelle says with a bright smile.

The world may be dark at times, but together they can handle anything.
