AU: Trinity Universe/FreakAngels crossover: First date
OOC: Takes place not too terribly long after this thread.
After certain events at the Chicago harbor there had been considerable amusement within the Æon Society over the pairing up of Annabelle Newfield and Connor. (Whitley Styles had won the betting pool, despite Jake's claim that he cheated.)
As for the reactions of the other FreakAngels to the news, well, who knows?
There was a furious spate of trouble starting the very next day, of course. All of the Society's founders have been run ragged for the last few weeks. For the moment though, things are quiet. (Or at least, if things ARE going crazy somewhere, someone else is handling the problem.)
Annabelle and Jake got back in town at some ungodly hour this morning, whereupon she fell asleep on one of the couches near the fireplace. (Jake is probably off somewhere regaling a pretty woman or two with tales of said adventure, because that's what he does.)

He keeps walking, making small talk, waiting for Styles to reach them.

He introduces himself and leads a still bewildered Thomas and an excited little girl off into a nearby cafe for a long and involved explanation. Their part in this is finally done.
"You did great," Annabelle says with a smile, kissing his cheek. It's getting quite late now, so it might be a good idea to head back and get some sleep. After all, they've got an exciting afternoon planned!
no subject
What? It's the 20's, they are teens and in public. "Things never get boring around here, do they?"
no subject
"Not generally, no," Annabelle says with a chuckle, enjoying being close. We Inspired tend to lead...interesting lives, whether we want to or not.
They don't have to look for trouble, it finds them.

A small grin shows. "How lucky am I?" Connor rests forehead to Annabelle's, just... being there close.
Scandalous!

This is very nice, and Annabelle hums a bit in contentment. "You can't possibly be luckier than me," she teases.

...
"But I think we should get going: I can feel the dirty looks we're getting and some people seem to be about to say something nasty." And he had enough excitement for a day that was supposed to be filled with a romantic date only.
no subject
"Flatterer," she says with a grin.
She snorts at the mention of dirty looks. "They'll be in for a shock in a few weeks when it's swimming weather, then," she tells him with a wink. "Scandalous."
She's not disagreeing with him about going, though.

Bathing Suits.
Connor... blushing, as his mind runs ahead.

Perhaps sadly, 1920s swimwear is not nearly as revealing as what he's used to. Annabelle shakes her head, "People getting all indignant about any skin showing above the knee and below the neck," she mutters with a roll of her eyes.
no subject
"A lot less." Almost nothing.
no subject
"I expect you'll be...disappointed, then," she adds with a faint blush of her own. If he's used to far more lenient dress, he's likely to find her own look a bit stodgy, surely?

She winces a bit internally. Seriously, that was the analogy her brain came up with?

He's also smart enough to not add comments for his own for now, just walking back to the headquarters with his girlfriend.

Miss McCallister, the brave soul who mans the Society's front desk most days, is only half visible behind a small mountain of baked goods. It would appear that the families of the people Connor saved are still sending thank you gifts in the form of food.

"For all their complaining about the cause, they seem more than willing to have at the rewards," she adds with a roll of her eyes.

She's finally starting to realise WHY she feels a bit uneasy around Mark, and the memories involved are still painful.
no subject
"Like a freak."
no subject
"I wish I could have been there for you." She might have meant to say 'we' and 'all of you', but this is far more revealing.
no subject
Shocking, teens acting like that, and unsupervised.
"And in the end, Mark was right: we had to stop, and fight back, or we'd be chased and hunted until we were dead."
