Trinity/Jenny Everywhere AU

What is it with evil geniuses and their tendency to paint skulls on things? At the moment, a fierce battle is afoot on the decks of a particularly large black zeppelin with a skull painted on it.

No one is shooting (bullets + hydrogen gas = BOOM), but the melee is intense....

And in mid-fight there is a cry of 'watch out!': a woman in a green jumpsuit, wearing a scarf and aviator goggles, is outside. Her parachute snags on the side of the zeppelin and swings her towards a window, barely giving her time to shift position and go at it feet-first.

The newcomer's combat boots impact the glass and send an explosion of shards into the room, while she lands ungracefully on her ass. "Ow! Damn it!"

Annabelle takes advantage of this distraction to hit one mook so hard that he's flung out of a different window.

"Are you hurt?" Annabelle shouts, casually kneeing another thug somewhere painful.

"Just my pride." Jenny curls her legs up off the ground, and kicks them outwards while arching her back: the energetic motion bounces her from prone to standing in a second...

...just in time to duck a swing from a goon with a large monkey wrench. "Whoa!" She ducks and spins, shooting out a leg to sweep the man off his feet.

"Good!" Annabelle shouts with a grin. The man Jenny hits goes flying, as does his wrench.

Annabelle grabs the flying wrench out of the air, and brings it across in a backhand swing. Oh, OW. Yeah, that thug is down for the count.

The press seems to be thinning a bit.

One thing The Shifter knows how to do is to improvise and adapt: she jumps forward from her crouched position, elbow-first into another henchman's gut, rolls out of the way of another blow and jumps to scissor-kick two others, lands and roundhouse-kicks another. "What the heck is happening here?"

Annabelle's rather busy kicking ass and taking names herself. "Oh, the usual," Annabelle calls out. "Dr. Zorbo's decided to get his way by parking a zeppelin with a giant death ray over Paris."

"You'd think he'd learn better...."

"...I'm actually glad mad evil geniuses take their time learning from their mistakes." Jenny shoots a quick punch, catching the last goon on the chin and sending him sprawling into a heap. Lights out.

Then she turns to Annabelle and offers a hand. "Hi. Jenny Everywhere."

"Annabelle Newfield," she replies with a smile, taking the offered hand. "I take it you weren't planning on dropping in on this little shindig?"

Jenny shakes head. "I was not even planning to come to Europe, but after we got rid of the martian drones by shoving them off the airlock before re-entry, I could not stay around for the landing."

"By the way, what year is it?"

Annabelle blinks in shock at Jenny's explanation. "1926," she replies, baffled as to why she's being asked the question.

"Nice!" Jenny smiles. "Well, what next? I guess the bad guy is still around somewhere?"

Note to self: interrogate Jenny later. "I'm not sure," Annabelle replies. "Zorbo is generally bright enough to run away."

All of a sudden, a dark haired man who looks as if he could simply disappear into any crowd is just suddenly there. Annabelle swears, "Damn it, Whitley! How many times have I told you not to do that around me?"

If she has a chance.

The appearing act makes Jenny squeak and jump. "Eep!"

"My apologies, Miss," Whitley Styles says apologetically. He glances at the broken in window. "I take it you arrived here...unexpectedly?"

"Whitely has a knack for people not seeing him even when they're looking right at him," Annabelle explains.

"Ah. Oh, okay." Broken window, and there is her parachute and the harness hanging outside.

Come to think of it, maybe that goon Annabelle tossed out was very lucky? "I guess it is a useful thing."

There is a high pitched keening noise that sounds a lot like "Eeeeee!" coming from the window Jenny's parachute is hanging out of.

"Looks like you caught one, Jenny," Annabelle says with a grin. "Are you for catch and release or catch and keep?" she asks with a wink.

"Please don't kill me!!" pleads the goon. "I'll tell you anything you want, anything!

"Hm, lets pull him back in... he is beaten already, maybe he learned his lesson about working for the Bad Guys." Jenny is not the one to kill someone defenseless.

Or really, kill, for that matter.

Oh, Annabelle wasn't planning on killing him either, just make him sweat a little. Whitley hauls the goon back into the airship, where he looks a bit like a trapped rat.

The goon is nodding frantically at Jenny's assertion about learning his lesson. Whether said lesson will stick is, of course, another matter.

"What....what do ya wanna know?" he stammers out.

"Hmm, where is the Bad Guy, where is the Death ray...?" She glances at Annabelle: it is her adventure, not Jenny's, after all.

Annabelle gives Jenny a nod, and a glare to the minion. "I, I don't know where Dr. Zorbo is, but, but I know where the Death Ray is?"

"Good, then you can take us there," replies Whitley. The minion does not look pleased at that suggestion, but reluctantly starts leading them through the maze of passages.

Jenny follows along, humming under her breath a merry tune, like this is routine: crash through a zeppelin window and join the fight against an evil scientist.

Maybe it is routine, you never know. The hall zigzags for a bit, and they finally reach a door, which is protected by a blue, zappy looking thing.

"Well?" Annabelle says to the minion, impatient. "I said I knew where it was, not that I knew how to get in!" he protests.

"Of all things, the guy remembers to lock the door." Jenny shakes head. "Ideas?"

"Well, there's always destroying the door?" Annabelle says with a shrug. Whitley peers intently at the device.

"It looks like there are some strange symbols on the side? A combination lock of some sort?" he suggests.

"And I bet one combination opens it, and every other triggers some kind of death trap." Jenny peruses the symbols, then turns to the goon. "You have escape pods, or even parachutes around? If we can not get to the death ray, we might have to scuttle the ship."
