What is it with evil geniuses and their tendency to paint skulls on things? At the moment, a fierce battle is afoot on the decks of a particularly large black zeppelin with a skull painted on it.

No one is shooting (bullets + hydrogen gas = BOOM), but the melee is intense....

"That way," the henchman replies, pointing. One long and twisty path later, they're on the bridge.

There are buttons, levers, toggles and lights everywhere. It looks a bit like the controls were designed by Rube Goldberg, frankly.

Jenny frowns. "Huh... too easy so far. Where is the bad guy?"

"I expect he's jumped ship by now," Annabelle replies, examining the controls.

Speaking of too easy so far, there's a clock on the wall whose hands are traveling backwards. At the moment, the hands are about 10 minutes away from 12 o'clock....

"Oh, damn it. Just once I wish the bad guy would NOT set the place to self-destruct." She runs to the controls and starts working them, hoping they are not locked or worse.

Annabelle swears furiously, and she and Whitley are also trying to figure out the controls.

They're not jammed, thankfully. Apparently, Zorbo didn't think anyone else could figure out his control schema.

There is a kind of logic to it, once you figure out the trick....

"Which way to out of the city and somewhere we can crash-land?" Flying things are her thing, Jenny is quick in figuring out the controls.

She should definitely meet Jake "Danger Ace" Stefokowski, then. They'd get along like a house afire.

"Due East," Annabelle replies after a quick glance at the charts. "It's five miles to the sea, though..."

"And this crap is slow to maneuver..." Anyway, Jenny turns the dirigible eastwards, and gives full power.

"Of course," Annabelle says wryly. "Heaven forbid we have an easy time of it," she adds with a rueful grin.

The zeppelin turns sluggishly, but it does turn. They're making good time to the sea, but it's going to be close....

"Okay... now we should think about how we will get out of here. How you guys got in?"

"We jumped out of a plane," Annabelle replies. "Jake must be off dealing with the other zeppelins, or he'd have buzzed us by now."

"Look for flares, something to signal your friend? Anyway..." She pushes the controls forward. "We will be low over the sea not long before it blows up. If things get really that bad, we can at least jump out.

"Good idea," Annabelle replies. Whitley and Annabelle both start opening cabinets and rummaging for anything that could be used as a signal.

It takes a few minutes, but Whitley finally raises a pack of flares in triumph. "Finally! I was beginning to worry that we'd have to improvise."

"We will have to improvise, unless your friend can catch up with us in less than three minutes!" Okay, Jenny is starting to lose her cool, a bit.

"Let's hope it doesn't come to that!" Annabelle shouts as Whitley fires off a flare.

Less than a minute later....speak of the Devil. Is that roaring sound approaching rapidly an airplane engine?

"To the lowest deck and to the back!" Jenny locks the controls. "Easier to jump off that way."

"That sounds like a good plan to me!" Annabelle shouts with a grin. They may break a record for the 100 yard dash to the lowest desk.

The great metal plane coming into view is a most beautiful sight. The pilot, whoever he is, is a bloody genius. Not many people could fly a plane close enough and level enough that you could jump onto it....

Jenny does not hesitate: she reties her scarf securely, tucking the long ends into her jumpsuit, pulls the goggles full on again...

...and gracefully jumps off the dirigible onto the plane below, aiming for a good spot where to hold on.

Not her first time doing that?

It would seem that it's not Whitley and Annabelle's first time either, as they quickly follow her.

Once they all have a good hold, a hatch opens in the roof of the plane. A young blond man gives Jenny a grin. "Hello gorgeous, kind of you to drop in."

Jenny laughs then grins back. "I was sort of expecting an open hatch to drop into..." That way she would not have to be shouting, see?

"Can we move away from the about-to-crash-dirigible? I think it will make a big boom in about... 78 seconds."

Annabelle rolls her eyes at Jake's comment.

"No problem!" he says with a grin. "We're headed out as we speak." He looks for a moment as if he's doing calculations in his head.

"Everybody in!" he shouts. "And hold onto something, we're going to have to do a dive to get enough distance!"

"Wooo! Buzzing some grass!" It is not like they have that much height to burn in a dive for speed.

It is not like Jenny is worried about it.

Jake grins. "More like plowing the ocean waves!" he calls back with a grin.

The plane suddenly drops into a very steep dive, deep enough that the ocean waves splash water on the bottom of the plane.

"And I left my fishing rod in Laporte... oh well." Jenny holds on to something as they speed away. "Twenty-seven seconds... be ready to pull up, the dirigible will cause a big wave if it blows up like a Mad Scientist's does..." It is going down into the sea, after all.

Jake just nods and, a few moments later, pulls the plane into a steep ascent.

Behind them comes an ear-shattering KABOOM! as the hydrogen gas ignites inside the Zeppelin.
